About the Role

The role encompasses developing local procedures, maintaining prevention programs for safety and environmental protection, conducting risk analyses, and keeping the HS&E risk register current. The specialist will also promote a proactive safety culture, coordinate training and inspections, support project teams with change‑control matters, and oversee wastewater quality monitoring and annual environmental reporting. • Develop, implement, and maintain HS&E policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance. • Create and sustain safety prevention and environmental protection programs (air, water, waste, energy reduction, product substitution). • Perform HS&E risk analyses and update the risk register. • Promote proactive safety culture and communicate regular HS&E themes. • Ensure monitoring and maintenance of all HS&E programs. • Support departments on HS&E matters in projects and change‑control processes. • Monitor wastewater quality from the treatment plant. • Prepare annual environmental reports for authorities. • Coordinate health and safety activities with the H&S Committee. • Establish and deliver a health & safety training plan. • Conduct workplace inspections and incident investigations. • Develop and implement an accident‑reduction program and contribute to industrial hygiene projects. • Produce and maintain up‑to‑date HS&E statistics. • Improve the HS&E management system, conduct internal audits, and track corrective actions.

What You Bring

Applicants must hold a university degree in health, safety or environmental studies, possess 3‑5 years of relevant experience, be bilingual in French and English, and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Preferred credentials include ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management‑system audit training, ideally with certification as an auditor. • University degree in Environmental or Health & Safety studies (or equivalent technical training). • 3–5 years of directly related HS&E experience. • Bilingual French/English proficiency. • Canadian citizen or permanent resident status. • Prior training in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 system audits; certified auditor preferred.
