Operations Manager Hauling

About the Role

The Operations Manager – Hauling leads collections activities for commercial, industrial and residential customers across a geographically dispersed area, overseeing container delivery and pickup. This role manages a team of Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers and Helpers, and collaborates with the General Manager and other unit managers to execute local market strategies that align with the area’s overall operating and marketing plans. Key duties include hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of staff, implementing tactical initiatives to enhance customer experience and profitability, and optimizing route productivity while controlling labor hours and disposal expenses. The manager also resolves customer service concerns, ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and leads safety and accident‑prevention programs to maintain a safe work environment. • Manage staff hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation. • Execute strategic and tactical plans to improve customer experience and profitability. • Optimize route productivity and control labor and disposal expenses. • Resolve customer service issues and ensure regulatory compliance. • Lead safety and accident‑prevention programs for a safe work environment. • Maintain compliance with environmental, operational, safety, accounting, and ethical standards. • Approve expenses and manage the operations department budget. • Develop a high‑performing team culture and drive talent development. • Build and maintain relationships with government, community, and environmental groups. • Lead change initiatives and direct large staff teams. • Set aggressive goals and achieve results through process‑oriented execution. • Apply analytical, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making skills to solve problems. • Collaborate effectively and foster team building. • Promote ethical behavior and uphold company values.

Compensation includes a salary range of $90,800 to $124,850, contingent on locality, with a 20% annual incentive target.
