About the Role
The role includes leading fire‑protection design on selected projects, supporting senior engineers on more complex assignments, and collaborating with remote delivery teams. Additional duties involve technical reviews, field investigations, stakeholder communication, and assisting project managers to ensure delivery and technical assurance. • Prepare design packages for RIBA stages, including drawings, specifications, reports, and hydraulic calculations. • Create fire suppression system solutions for various applications throughout design stages. • Perform calculations for sprinkler water supplies and gaseous agent quantities. • Support remote project‑delivery teams. • Conduct technical reviews and assist in solving design issues. • Perform field investigations or inspections. • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders. • Support project managers on projects of varying scale, delivery, and technical assurance. • Provide evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).

What You Bring
We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer specializing in fire‑fighting systems design for our St Albans, London, Manchester, or Croydon offices. The consultancy‑based role involves designing, calculating, and proposing fire‑safety solutions on projects of all sizes, acting as a key point of contact, conducting surveys, producing reports, and supporting day‑to‑day project management for secured programmes. This position is ideal for an established consultant looking for progression or a technically deep professional wanting to join a respected fire‑safety consultancy. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, quantitative and analytical abilities, and a relevant engineering degree or professional qualification. Experience in consultancy, knowledge of British and international standards, proficiency with fire‑suppression systems and software tools such as Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, and hydraulic analysis programs are required. Ongoing CPD, a BEng or MEng (or progress towards one), and registration with the Engineering Council (CEng/IEng) are desirable. • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. • Exhibit strong quantitative and analytical abilities. • Hold a relevant engineering degree or professional qualification. • Have experience in consultancy or related industries. • Know British and international standards and Building Regulations. • Experience with fire suppression systems (sprinklers, water mist, gaseous suppression, risers, hydrants, hose reels, hypoxic systems). • Proficient in Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, and hydraulic tools. • Possess a BEng, MEng, or be working towards one. • Be registered (or working towards registration) with the Engineering Council (CEng/IEng).
