Providing innovative energy solutions for a sustainable, electrified future.
Project Engineer - Secondary Engineering
Design secondary substation systems: specs, SLDs, wiring, vendor coordination.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The role involves translating end‑customer technical specifications and inputs from the OU Engineering team into detailed protection and substation designs. Key outputs include single‑line diagrams, schematics, layout drawings, bill of materials, and related documents such as RFQs and engineering hour estimates. The engineer will also conduct site visits, assess technical risks, and evaluate opportunities throughout the design phase. Collaboration is essential: the engineer will review vendor drawings, perform technical vetting of control and relay panels, and generate detailed schematics for interface equipment. Responsibilities extend to preparing relay ordering data, cable schedules, voltage‑drop calculations, and auxiliary power system designs, as well as coordinating with primary engineers, sourcing teams, and factory counterparts. Vendor offer evaluations, FAT/SAT activities, and ensuring on‑time delivery of design deliverables are also part of the remit. • Review tender documents and technical specifications; produce design intent documentation. • Create protection single‑line diagrams, functional design standards, signal lists, trip matrices and interlock logic. • Develop schematic diagrams, relay ordering information, cable block diagrams and bill‑of‑quantity estimates. • Perform voltage‑drop calculations and design auxiliary power systems including low‑voltage AC and DC panels. • Coordinate with primary engineering, sourcing, and factory teams; evaluate vendor offers and conduct FAT/SAT. • Ensure timely delivery of design deliverables and secure customer approvals for drawings. • Assess technical risks and identify opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. • Provide interface engineering support during erection and commissioning phases. • Estimate engineering effort for cost proposals at the tender stage and propose efficiency improvements. • Maintain up‑to‑date project documentation in line with quality and safety processes.
