About the Role

The Senior Planner reports to the E&U Planning Manager and works across Power Projects, Transmission Lines and Substations. The role involves preparing, maintaining and monitoring schedules for programs and projects delivered under Build Better Together. It is a full‑time permanent position based in Adelaide or Melbourne with flexible hybrid working and required site travel. • Work across the Bid and Delivery stages of multiple projects. • Prepare resource‑ and cost‑loaded detailed project delivery schedules using past construction knowledge to reflect contract, design and specification conditions. • Maintain and update the project schedule, incorporating subcontract schedules to ensure work package plans are executed as required. • Ensure compliance with Downer’s standards and Utilities Performance Commercial & Risk Team requirements for schedule quality and change management. • Perform delay analysis as needed by the contract and provide suitable narrative. • Review and analyse sub‑contractor schedules to confirm alignment with good scheduling practice and Downer standards. • Assist in the development of project practices and procedures. • Undertake reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a tertiary qualification in engineering, quantity surveying, construction or project management and has over ten years of site construction experience on power projects, transmission lines and substations. Strong CPM scheduling knowledge, Primavera P6 certification and experience with Microsoft Project, earned‑value management and delay analysis are required. Desirable skills include PowerBI, Visio, Oracle DB, risk management and a project‑management certification. • Tertiary qualification – degree or equivalent in engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or project management (preferred). • 10+ years site construction experience on power projects, transmission lines and substations. • Excellent knowledge of CPM scheduling concepts and delay analysis techniques. • Experience planning and scheduling for small and large projects using Primavera P6 (essential) and Microsoft Project (predominant). • Previous experience with Earned Value Management systems. • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio. • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerBi and developing reporting dashboards (desirable). • Certification on Primavera P6 scheduling tool (required). • Project Management certification (desirable). • Oracle DB knowledge and qualifications. • Risk Management knowledge (desirable). • Experience with extension of time and delay analysis. • Strong analytical skills and self‑discipline.
