What You Bring
The Transmission & Distribution team is looking for experienced Cable System Design Engineers to join its global workforce. The role involves delivering cable system projects across multiple voltage levels for transmission system operators, distribution network operators and private developers. Engineers will work on innovative projects from feasibility and concept through detailed design, installation supervision and commissioning of on‑shore infrastructure. Candidates must have strong experience in cable system design engineering for HV/EHV transmission and distribution projects, with FEED experience being essential. A background in regulated, quality‑assured environments—ideally with National Grid—and knowledge of on‑shore routing, pulling forces, burial risk assessments, and electromagnetic, thermal and stability analysis are required. Proficiency with tools such as CYMCAP, WinCable, AutoCAD, Revit, GIS and mechanical simulation software, as well as familiarity with IEC, CIGRÉ and NG‑TP standards, is expected. • Proven cable system design experience on HV/EHV transmission and distribution projects (FEED required). • Experience in regulated, quality‑assured environments, preferably with National Grid. • Knowledge of on‑shore routing, burial risk assessments, pulling forces, and electromagnetic/thermal analysis. • Familiarity with IEC, CIGRÉ, and National Grid TP standards. • Proficiency with CYMCAP, WinCable, AutoCAD, Revit, GIS and mechanical simulation tools. • Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; NG‑Certified CDAE and Chartered Engineer status desirable.
