About the Role

Key duties include enforcing safety policies while delivering quality work, performing milling set‑up according to AL‑DOT, county, city and commercial specifications, reading plans and specifications (application rates, grades, slope, drainage), and completing jobs on time and under budget by setting clear expectations for crew members. The role also involves managing all aspects of operations such as ordering materials, logistics, maintenance and external services, coordinating with other foremen, plants, crews, subcontractors and vendors before shifts or projects, ensuring daily maintenance, housekeeping and pre‑trip inspections, working nights and weekends as required, and submitting electronic timecards and shift production reports with accurate quantities and cost coding. • Enforce safety policies and ensure quality work daily. • Perform milling set‑up according to AL‑DOT, county, city, and commercial specifications. • Read and interpret plans and specifications (rates, grades, slope, drainage). • Complete jobs on time and under budget by setting clear expectations for crew. • Manage ordering of materials, logistics, maintenance, and external services. • Coordinate with foremen, plants, crews, subcontractors, and vendors before shifts or projects. • Ensure daily maintenance, housekeeping, and complete pre‑trip inspections. • Work nights and weekends as required by customer demand. • Submit electronic timecards and shift production reports with accurate quantities and cost coding.

What You Bring

Qualifications include at least 2 years of experience in paving and milling, strong knowledge of local customers, materials and specifications (preferred), excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a proven self‑starter attitude with limited supervision, ability to work effectively with team members or inspectors under stressful, changing conditions, proficiency with GPS grade and slope control, required computer skills, and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record. • Minimum 2 years experience in paving and milling. • Strong knowledge of local customers, materials, and specifications (preferred). • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Self‑starter able to work with limited supervision. • Ability to collaborate with team members and inspectors in stressful, changing environments. • Proficiency with GPS grade and slope control. • Competent computer skills. • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
