About the Role
The Staff Accountant oversees all accounting and financial operations for the construction division, ensuring accurate reporting, effective cost controls, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. The role partners with executive leadership, project managers, and operations teams to support profitable project execution and informed business decisions. • Perform daily accounting tasks such as accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries. • Review, code, and post project cost transactions for job cost accounting. • Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes. • Prepare and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and bank statements. • Generate work‑in‑progress schedules and cost reports. • Support progress billing, retainage tracking, and change‑order accounting. • Maintain organized financial and project documentation. • Handle sales tax, use tax, and other compliance reporting. • Respond to internal cost and financial inquiries from project teams. • Provide schedules and documentation for audits and reviews.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or equivalent experience). • 1–3 years of accounting experience; construction experience a plus. • Basic knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. • Understanding of job‑cost accounting concepts. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time‑management. • Ability to work under deadlines in a project‑based environment. • Effective written and verbal communication skills. • Experience with construction accounting software (SAGE, BuildOps preferred). • Exposure to WIP reporting and percentage‑of‑completion accounting. • Primarily office‑based with occasional site visits. • Travel required 80–100% of the time. • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, project‑driven setting.
