About the Role

As a Cleaner on the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions team you will be responsible for maintaining a designated zone, emphasizing quality control, health and safety, and exceeding client expectations. You will report to the Manager/Supervisor and work as a core member of the operational team. • Sweep, scrub, vacuum, and mop hard-surface floors using handheld, walk‑behind, or automatic scrubbers. • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors manually or with power equipment. • Clean glass surfaces, washroom floors, stairwells, and elevator cabs, using ladders or scaffolding as needed. • Transport garbage, cleaning supplies, and maintenance machinery between floors and job sites. • Load, unload, and replenish cleaning solutions; mix water and detergents per specifications. • Operate snow removal equipment and spread melting agents on sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas. • Perform steam cleaning or shampooing of carpets. • Inspect and report major repairs or additions to building systems. • Follow chemical safety and equipment procedures, adhering to WHMIS and OHS regulations. • Lift, push, pull heavy items (up to 25 lb) and climb ladders; work weekends, holidays, and multiple locations.

What You Bring

• Experience in institutional cleaning, floor maintenance machines, and cleaning solutions. • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and safe equipment use. • Strong interpersonal skills for cooperative relationships with staff, clients, and the public. • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and maintain records. • Valid Class G driver’s license and ability to obtain security clearance.

Benefits

The position is regular, part-time with a salary range of $17.60‑$20.88 per hour, based on experience, education, and performance. Physical demands include occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 lb and the ability to climb ladders; reasonable accommodations are provided.
