About the Role

In the Team Leader role you will work with the Fabrication Supervisor to drive results on key metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity. You will provide leadership by promoting teamwork, training others, and proactively resolving production needs while fostering a safe, engaged, and inclusive work culture. Compliance with policies, proper use of personal protective equipment, and performing 5S duties are essential responsibilities. You will collaborate directly with the supervisor and manufacturing team to ensure customer orders are executed timely and efficiently, prioritizing the most urgent orders first. Reviewing orders and associated documentation (drawings, travel documents, bills of material) is required to provide the team with the correct information and to troubleshoot any problems that arise. Clear direction and guidance must be given to align team efforts with organizational goals, while overseeing production processes to maintain efficiency and adherence to schedules. Conducting spot checks ensures quality standards are upheld throughout the production process. You will facilitate training and cross‑training for associates to enhance knowledge and versatility, lead Tier 1 meetings, identify continuous‑improvement opportunities, and make daily updates to Tier boards. Communication with other shift leads and the supervisor is required to ensure smooth transitions of tasks and job updates. Acting as a back‑up Supervisor when needed, you will ensure continuity in leadership and operations, assist in interviewing candidates for your designated area, and provide feedback to associates regarding productivity, breaks, and other performance matters. • Drive safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity metrics. • Lead and train team members, promote teamwork, and perform 5S duties. • Ensure timely execution of customer orders, prioritize urgent jobs, and review documentation. • Oversee production processes, maintain schedules, and conduct spot checks for quality. • Facilitate training, cross‑training, Tier 1 meetings, and continuous‑improvement initiatives. • Serve as backup supervisor, assist in hiring, and provide performance feedback.

What You Bring

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 2‑3 years of manufacturing or materials processing experience. Candidates must be proficient with various tools, Microsoft Office, and be able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting. Only applicants residing within 50 miles of Sumter and who are legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship will be considered; no relocation benefit is offered. Additional preferred skills include experience with AS400, VISTA, and DMM computer programs, the ability to multi‑task and balance demands, dependable self‑direction, strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication abilities, and a collaborative style. Understanding of DMM fabricated parts, Kanban ordering, and the ability to work professionally with internal and external suppliers and customers are also valued. • Required: High school diploma/GED, 2‑3 years manufacturing experience, Microsoft Office proficiency, AS400/VISTA/DMM knowledge. • Physical: stand for long periods, lift, bend, squat; reside within 50 mi of Sumter. • Strong interpersonal, communication, self‑starter, collaborative, and problem‑solving skills.
