About the Role

• Design and develop MV/LV distribution and substation projects, including transformers, switchgear, protection/control schemes, and service connections. • Perform power system modeling and studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination) using ETAP, SKM, or CYME. • Design overhead and underground distribution systems, specifying poles, conductors, transformers, and protective devices. • Develop and program relay settings with tools such as SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, or ASPEN. • Troubleshoot relay, SCADA, and recloser protection issues in collaboration with field teams. • Provide technical support for battery energy storage system design and grid integration. • Coordinate equipment procurement and installation with vendors and construction crews. • Prepare construction packages including one‑line diagrams, plan/profile drawings, and specifications with drafting resources. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, to ensure project success. • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.

The Sr. Electrical Engineer role is based in Sacramento, CA, with hybrid/remote flexibility after initial training. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and an active EIT certification; PE license preferred. • Possess at least 5 years of utility, consulting, or substation design experience. • Demonstrated proficiency in relay settings/programming and power system modeling software (ETAP, SKM, CYME, ASPEN). • Experience with SCADA integration and communication protocols is a plus. • Familiarity with civil/structural aspects of substation design is beneficial.
