Job Highlights
About the Role
• Design and develop MV/LV distribution and substation projects, including transformers, switchgear, protection/control schemes, and service connections. • Perform power system modeling and studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination) using ETAP, SKM, or CYME. • Design overhead and underground distribution systems, specifying poles, conductors, transformers, and protective devices. • Develop and program relay settings with tools such as SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, or ASPEN. • Troubleshoot relay, SCADA, and recloser protection issues in collaboration with field teams. • Provide technical support for battery energy storage system design and grid integration. • Coordinate equipment procurement and installation with vendors and construction crews. • Prepare construction packages including one‑line diagrams, plan/profile drawings, and specifications with drafting resources. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, to ensure project success. • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.

The company’s team designs and implements innovative distribution and substation solutions for utilities, municipalities, and private clients. The Sr. Electrical Engineer role is based in Sacramento, CA, with hybrid/remote flexibility after initial training. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and an active EIT certification; PE license preferred. • Possess at least 5 years of utility, consulting, or substation design experience. • Demonstrated proficiency in relay settings/programming and power system modeling software (ETAP, SKM, CYME, ASPEN). • Experience with SCADA integration and communication protocols is a plus. • Familiarity with civil/structural aspects of substation design is beneficial.

Benefits
The salary range is $120,000‑$170,000 annually, plus potential RSUs, performance bonuses, and a full benefits package covering medical, dental, PTO, 401(k), and professional development.
