About the Role
The Department Manager will review and manage department operations to ensure technical product quality, establish long‑range objectives and goals for the water resources team, and provide both technical and management leadership. They will develop marketing programs aligned with discipline goals, advise professionals in other disciplines when expert knowledge is required, and manage activities to ensure adequate profit on all projects. Monthly productivity and labor hour utilization will be reviewed and adjusted as needed, while projects are assigned, schedules set, and employee performance evaluated according to company policy. • Review and manage department operations to ensure technical product quality. • Set long‑range objectives, goals, and plans for the water resources team. • Provide technical and management leadership. • Develop marketing programs aligned with discipline goals. • Advise and assist professionals in other disciplines as needed. • Ensure projects earn adequate profit and monitor monthly productivity and labor utilization. • Assign projects, schedule work, and evaluate employee performance per company policy. • Provide education reimbursement, in‑house courses, mentorship, wellness programs, and philanthropic opportunities.

What You Bring
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Michigan PE license (or reciprocity), and bring 12+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience. Demonstrated effective leadership, delegation, strategic thinking, and business development skills are highly preferred, along with proven expertise in proposals and the design, management, and delivery of water resources projects. Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Michigan PE license (or reciprocity). • Possess 12+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience. • Demonstrate effective leadership, delegation, strategic thinking, and business development expertise. • Communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal.
