About the Role
• Conduct pre‑start, post‑start, and daily safety inspections using checklists; report defects and perform minor repairs. • Schedule and ensure regular maintenance per equipment manuals; communicate damages to supervisors and fleet department. • Operate equipment safely, adhering to capacity limits, emergency procedures, and utility‑location protocols. • Perform grading, material loading/unloading, truck loading, and spoil recovery while maintaining level grades. • Change and manage attachments (forks, booms, hydraulic hammers) for material handling and demolition. • Monitor and enforce safety zones; ensure personnel stay clear of equipment reach and secure equipment with pins when idle. • Assist with non‑operating duties as needed and maintain situational awareness of site activities. • Lift and carry 50‑80 lb regularly, up to 150 lb with assistance; climb on/off heavy equipment safely.

The role is a non‑FSLA exempt skilled craft position on heavy construction projects, requiring operation of equipment such as backhoes, excavators, bulldozers and loaders, with safety‑sensitive requirements. The position demands daily equipment inspections, preventive maintenance coordination, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to perform tasks such as grading, loading trucks, changing attachments, and handling utility‑location procedures while maintaining situational awareness on the job site. Candidates should have 5‑9+ years of construction equipment experience, relevant certifications, and a high‑school diploma or equivalent preferred. Physical ability to lift 50‑150 lb and work various shifts in a team environment is required. • 5–9+ years experience operating excavators, bulldozers, loaders on road/highway/bridge projects. • Required certifications or documentation meeting industry and governmental standards. • High school diploma or secondary education preferred. • Knowledge of equipment capacities, electronic grade lasers, cut‑and‑fill excavation, and utility location procedures.
