About the Role

In this development role you will support the HS&E team with day‑to‑day activities across the designated business unit, including site monitoring, document reviews, reporting and promoting a positive HS&E culture. You will learn and apply the company’s management system requirements and help embed the behavioural change programme “Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviour”. • Support HS&E Advisors and the HS&E Manager with day‑to‑day HS&E activities across sites and offices. • Attend sites regularly to assist with inspections/SSERs, safety walks, observations and engagement activities. • Support the review of project HS&E documentation (e.g., RAMS, CPP content checks, briefings) under supervision. • Help ensure HS&E actions are recorded, tracked and closed within agreed timescales using approved systems. • Assist with incident reporting, evidence gathering and investigation support, ensuring quality and timeliness of inputs. • Support delivery of HS&E communications, briefings and awareness initiatives. • Engage with operational teams and supply chain partners to promote safe behaviours and reinforce expectations. • Support the rollout and embedment of Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviour through participation in engagement sessions and site activities. • Maintain accurate HS&E records, dashboards, and reporting inputs for the business unit.

What You Bring

Apprentices will complete a qualification relevant to the role, gaining a nationally recognised credential while developing practical skills in a supportive environment. The 18‑month programme combines a series of training modules with a graduation event, and is available from Level 3 up to degree level, fully funded by Galliford Try. The role is slated for a Summer 2026 start, with flexibility for an earlier start date to suit both the apprentice and the business. We welcome applications from individuals passionate about the industry, whether they are leaving education or seeking a route into construction. Candidates should be eager to learn, adaptable, flexible and possess good communication skills; no prior experience is required. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK without restriction and meet the minimum entry requirements for the relevant apprenticeship course.
