About the Role
The incumbent will be responsible for repairing and maintaining plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors, and screens, diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues, and fabricating or welding parts as needed. Additional duties include performing routine servicing, inspecting quarry equipment for wear, operating excavators, skid steers and loaders, and completing daily pre‑ and post‑inspection documentation while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. • Repair and maintain crushers, conveyors, and screens. • Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues on quarry equipment. • Fabricate and weld parts needed for plant repairs. • Perform routine servicing and general maintenance across the plant. • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or potential failure. • Operate excavator, skid steer, loader, and other heavy equipment as needed. • Conduct daily pre‑ and post‑inspections with proper documentation. • Follow OSHA, MSHA, and environmental safety regulations.

What You Bring
The company is seeking an Experienced Utility Person for Plant Maintenance/Heavy Equipment Operation on the 2nd shift at the Lacey’s Spring Quarry in Alabama. The role reports to the Plant Manager, works 10‑12 hour shifts starting at 4:00 pm, includes a $3 per hour night‑shift premium, and offers overtime and comprehensive medical and retirement benefits. Candidates must have 1‑2 years of excavator or loader experience, prior quarry work, and a strong mechanical aptitude for plant repairs. Required skills include welding, fabrication, and the ability to conduct safety and maintenance inspections. Strong communication, organizational, and time‑management abilities, as well as a willingness to work flexible hours and outdoors in varied conditions, are essential. • 1‑2 years of excavator or loader experience; prior quarry work required. • Mechanical aptitude for plant repairs; welding and fabrication experience. • Ability to perform safety and maintenance inspections throughout the day. • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time‑management skills. • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and outdoors in varied conditions.
