About the Role

The Automation/Controls Engineer collaborates with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize rebar fabrication processes. Responsibilities include training team members across locations, troubleshooting and improving processes and equipment using engineering principles, developing and implementing hardware and software improvement plans, and providing support outside normal business hours as needed. • Train team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing • Use engineering principles, algorithms, and techniques to troubleshoot and improve processes and equipment • Develop and implement improvement plans involving hardware and software systems • Provide support outside normal business hours, including flexible scheduling for overtime, weekends, and holidays • Assist with regional maintenance initiatives and support cross‑site collaboration • Travel regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices

What You Bring

The position requires regular travel to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices, while adapting to evolving responsibilities assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager. Safety is paramount at Nucor; candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree in process, electrical, automation engineering or a related field, or two years of industrial maintenance and automation experience. Preferred qualifications include aSa software experience and 2‑3 years in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment. The role may involve some heavy lifting and work in noisy, dusty, hot or cold conditions; frequent travel to regional branches is required.
