Engineer III Coastal
Coastal engineering modeling, hazard assessment, and design analysis.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The role involves coastal morphodynamic and hydrodynamic modeling, coastal hazard assessments such as storm‑induced erosion and wave overtopping, flood routing, and cable burial risk analysis, as well as alternative analyses for coastal structures and living shoreline solutions. The engineer will also conduct statistical extreme‑value studies, river sediment transport modeling, and disseminate findings through peer‑reviewed journals and conferences. • Storm and sewer pipe network alternatives modeling and assessment • Dissemination of findings to peer‑reviewed and conference journals
Key Responsibilities
- ▸pipe modeling
- ▸coastal modeling
- ▸hazard assessment
- ▸flood routing
- ▸sediment modeling
- ▸publication
What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Coastal, Ocean, Port Engineering, or a related discipline and have at least one year of experience as a coastal engineer. Experience can be accumulated concurrently across the required functional areas. • Coastal morphodynamic and hydrodynamic modeling and assessment • Coastal hazard assessment, including storm‑induced erosion, wave overtopping, flood inundation, routing, and cable burial risk assessment • Coastal structure design alternative analysis and modeling • Living shoreline modeling of oyster castles to limit sand erosion and marsh retreat • Statistical extreme‑value analysis • River sediment transport modeling and mitigation assessment
