About the Role

Interns join the Integration, Testing, and Verification (ITV) team to design, develop, and test real‑time software for train control systems. Responsibilities include coding in C++, Python, C and assembly, creating and automating test procedures, reviewing code, analyzing defect reports, and supporting testing teams to troubleshoot issues. • Participate in a 4‑month hybrid internship (May‑August 2026) at Hitachi Rail SRS, 40 hrs/week, $23‑$30 CAD hourly. • Design, code, debug, and test real‑time software for train control systems using C++, Python, C, and assembly. • Write and automate test procedures, review code, and analyze defect reports. • Support in‑house testing teams to identify and resolve issues.

What You Bring

Applicants should be in the second or third year of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, with experience in C/C++ and Python, understanding of software architecture, and familiarity with development tools such as simulators. Strong written and spoken English and the ability to work the full internship schedule are required. • Complete onboarding, mentorship via Buddy Program, and real‑world projects with top industry talent. • Pursue a bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field (2nd or 3rd year). • Demonstrate development experience in C/C++ and Python; knowledge of software architecture and development environments. • Communicate fluently in English, both written and oral. • Preferred: experience with Visual Studio, Linux, PowerShell/Bash, C#, SQL Server, test automation tools, AWS, virtualization (VMware/ESXi), TCL or Ruby. • Eligibility: co‑op student with at least one academic term remaining after internship.
