About the Role
• Conduct wildlife surveys, including baseline assessments, nesting bird surveys, and habitat evaluations. • Monitor construction sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements. • Perform fish and wildlife monitoring, relocations, and dewatering operations. • Use GPS, maps, and aerial imagery to define project boundaries and habitats for impact analysis. • Document findings with photographs, detailed notes, and comprehensive technical reports. • Communicate with project managers, task leads, and other biologists to meet fieldwork and reporting deadlines. • Follow HSE policies, identify and mitigate environmental risks, and address unsafe behaviors. • Prepare desktop analyses, database queries, and reports detailing methods, results, and regulatory context.

What You Bring
Our Natural Resources & Impact Assessment Group seeks a skilled Biologist passionate about fieldwork and environmental compliance. This full‑time role is based in our Eureka, CA office and supports a wide range of projects across California and the Pacific, spanning transportation, utilities, development, energy, mining, and coastal restoration. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus). • Possess 3–5 years of experience conducting biological surveys, including special‑status species and nesting bird monitoring. • Familiar with California ecosystems and local special‑status species such as northwestern pond turtle, northern red‑legged frog, and steelhead. • Knowledge of California state and federal regulations related to special‑status species and habitats, and experience with CEQA/NEPA documentation. • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills. • Ability to travel statewide, with multiple overnight stays, and work in diverse and challenging field conditions. • Experience in construction monitoring and compliance reporting is a plus. • Experience in rare plant surveys, wetland delineations, or fisheries is a plus. • Possession of a CDFW scientific collecting permit or Federal 10(a)(1)(A) permit is a plus.
