About the Role

The FP&A Analyst acts as the finance business partner to Stella-Jones’ Canadian operations. The role conducts analysis to improve operational and financial effectiveness, manages the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes, builds financial models, prepares timely analysis, monitors performance against historical, budgeted and forecasted results, and reviews daily exception reports for data accuracy. The position is based at the Montreal (Saint-Laurent) headquarters with a hybrid schedule (typically three days in-office, two days remote) and may require up to 15 % travel to company locations in Canada. Key responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing the budget and forecasting processes for the Eastern Canada Region and the Canadian Residential Lumber Division, communicating information requirements and deadlines to functional groups, entering data into budgeting software, analyzing results for accuracy, and summarizing outcomes for management review. The analyst also performs financial modeling for scenario analysis, prepares monthly reporting packages with meaningful insights, creates presentation material for management meetings, and collaborates with IT to develop new financial reports and tools. Daily duties involve reviewing variance reports, investigating anomalies, extracting data from multiple accounting systems, conducting statistical and cost analyses, and producing narrative summaries for management, as well as leading or participating in special projects. • Coordinate and oversee budget and forecasting for Eastern Canada and Canadian Residential Lumber Division. • Communicate requirements and deadlines to Sales, Operations, Procurement, Transportation, and Finance teams. • Enter data into budgeting/forecasting software and analyze results for accuracy. • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages with actionable insights. • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support business decisions. • Create presentation materials for management review meetings. • Collaborate with IT to design new financial reports and reporting tools. • Review daily variance reports, investigate anomalies, and resolve data errors. • Extract financial data from multiple accounting and information systems for analysis. • Perform statistical, cost, and financial analyses and produce narrative summaries. • Lead or contribute to special projects as needed.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA or CFA designation is strongly preferred, and a master’s or MBA is considered an asset. The role requires at least five years of progressive accounting or finance experience (eight years highly preferred) and a minimum of three years in FP&A with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis responsibilities. Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is required, and experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and business-intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau is highly valued; prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial products environment is also preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA/CFA preferred. • Minimum 5 years accounting/finance experience (8 years preferred) and 3 years FP&A experience. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP (SAP/Oracle) and BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) strongly preferred. • Prior manufacturing or industrial products experience considered an asset.
