About the Role
In this role you will lead smaller projects independently while collaborating with Senior Project Managers on larger programmes, giving you exposure and room to grow. You will also have opportunities to line‑manage and mentor junior colleagues and to influence the environmental project management team’s strategy. • Lead smaller environmental projects independently while supporting senior managers on larger programmes. • Develop project proposals, defining scope, resources, schedule and cost estimates. • Create and maintain project documentation such as management plans, cost forecasts, risk registers, schedules and stakeholder registers. • Monitor and control project schedules, staff hours, budgets and expenditures. • Ensure health and safety compliance for site visits and obtain necessary internal approvals. • Manage contracts and administer contractual obligations. • Identify, assess and manage project changes and risks, adhering to governance standards. • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure compliance with contractual and scope agreements. • Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary environmental project teams and suppliers. • Promote delivery of environmental betterment, future‑ready and net‑zero strategies. • Represent the Environment and Consents discipline to internal teams, clients and stakeholders, building strong relationships.

We are looking for candidates with proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager, preferably within environmental or sustainability sectors, and a genuine passion for land‑based sustainable development. Strong communication skills, programme‑management knowledge (e.g., WBS, dependencies, critical path) and commercial/contractual awareness are essential, as is a track record of delivering projects within budget and managing change. Professional membership (e.g., PMI, APM, MIEnvSc, MRICS) and progress towards chartership are desirable, as is experience with Professional Services contracts such as NEC3/4. If you don’t meet every criterion, we encourage you to apply and we will consider how your experience aligns with the role. • Proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager, preferably in environmental or sustainability sectors. • Strong verbal and written communication skills to keep teams and stakeholders aligned. • Working knowledge of programme management, including WBS, dependencies, critical path, and MS Project/Primavera P6. • Commercial and contractual awareness with demonstrated financial acumen and change‑control experience. • Familiarity with Professional Services contracts (NEC3/4) – advantageous. • Membership of a relevant professional institution (PMI, APM, MIEnvSc, MRICS) and progress towards chartership.
