About the Role
The I&E Inspector works hands‑on daily, supporting contractors on the design and installation of electrical and instrumentation systems and ensuring compliance with local and national codes. The role also provides status updates, highlights project positives, and assists programmers during commissioning to ensure a smooth handoff to the customer. Key responsibilities include inspecting electrical and instrumentation installations, tracking daily completion percentages, witnessing and documenting megger, loop, and functional tests, and assisting with startup/commissioning. The inspector prepares detailed daily reports with photos, reviews drawings, RFIs, and field directives, generates action items, and submits all required documentation such as instrument data sheets and ITPW forms. Additionally, they ensure site‑specific orientation, equipment certification, attend daily safety meetings, and lead team members as needed. • Inspect and verify electrical and instrumentation installations against codes, drawings, and specifications. • Track daily completion percentages and document testing results (megger, loop checks, functional tests). • Assist with startup, commissioning, and generate detailed daily progress reports with photos. • Review drawings, RFIs, and field directives; create action item lists and submit required documentation (instrument data sheets, ITPW forms). • Ensure all personnel have site‑specific orientation, equipment certifications, and attend daily safety meetings. • Supervise and lead team members, providing guidance and feedback.

What You Bring
Work hours follow a standard 40‑hour work week but may vary with business needs, including evenings, weekends, or overtime as required. Up to 100 % travel is expected, requiring the ability to drive to various sites and client meetings. Candidates must have at least a high school diploma or GED; eight years of relevant experience with an equivalent mix of education, and five or more years of supervisory or leadership experience. A journeyman license is preferred, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software is required. The position demands regular sitting, frequent talking and hearing, occasional standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lb in a typical construction environment with distractions. The I&E Inspector position is a full‑time, exempt role based at ZAP’s corporate headquarters in Lakewood, CO, with a salary range of $83,200 to $140,400. The work schedule is Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, and may require up to 100 % travel, functioning as a road‑warrior. The role reports to the Director of Construction and falls within the Professionals job family.
