About the Role

The role involves performing third‑party inspections across multiple building disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, plumbing, and fire safety systems. Inspectors will also prepare daily time and field reports in line with company policy and apply extensive knowledge of state and local building codes. In addition, the position includes project management of code‑compliance initiatives, mentoring junior inspectors, and contributing to business development and profit‑and‑loss management. • Conduct third‑party inspections of electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, plumbing, and fire‑safety systems. • Prepare and submit daily time and inspection/field reports per ECS policy. • Manage code‑compliance projects, including plan review, technical support, inspections, performance and budget monitoring, proposal preparation, site meeting attendance, and problem resolution. • Mentor and train other building inspectors. • Assist with profit‑and‑loss management, market services, develop client relationships, and support business development for code inspections. • Maintain a valid driver’s license for any ECS subsidiary driving duties.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, with at least five years of experience in code‑compliance inspection or plan review of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire‑protection systems. At least one ICC certification (B2, M2, P2, or E2) is required, and the successful hire must obtain the NC Code Officials Qualification Board Building Inspector Level I certification within 90 days; Level II is preferred. A valid driver’s license is also required for any driving duties. • Apply extensive knowledge of state and local building code regulations, policies, and procedures. • Hold a high school diploma or GED. • Bring at least five years of code‑compliance inspection or plan‑review experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire‑protection systems. • Possess at least one valid ICC certification (B2, M2, P2, or E2) and obtain NC Code Officials Qualification Board Building Inspector Level I within 90 days of hire. • Preferred: obtain NC Code Officials Qualification Board Building Inspector Level II certification within 90 days.
