About the Role
The Apprentice is responsible for on-site execution of assigned tasks, coordinating daily with the foreman or superintendent to track and complete work that supports the project team and schedule. He/she assists in maintaining layout control and upholds JHL’s safety and quality programs, while also training apprentice carpenters and laborers. In the absence of a carpenter or foreman, the Apprentice has direct authority over on-site JHL craft and works with senior staff to prioritize tasks and guide subcontractors. • Assisting in building layout • Erecting temporary walkways, and ramps, and scaffolding • Setting forms for concrete • Layout and installation of embeds • Layout and installation of reinforcing steel • Place and finish concrete • Hanging doors and installing hardware • Installing wood and metal blocking • Maintain OSHA 10 (minimum) and recommended refresher training • Operation of select equipment such as skid-steers, lifts, and forklifts

What You Bring
The Carpenter Apprentice reports to the Carpenter Foreman and Superintendent and is classified as non-exempt under the FLSA. The work environment involves exposure to various weather conditions—including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and wind—and to loud noises, with up to 10% travel required during scheduled work hours. • Trim and finish carpentry • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent • Must be enrolled in CITC (or equivalent) apprenticeship training or otherwise demonstrated substantial industry experience and proficiency • 1-2 years required for Carpenter Apprentice 1 • Obtain as required • project specific and equipment operation safety training • Understand and implement basic framing techniques • Ability to remain in a standing or kneeling position (90% of work time) • Ability to speak, write and comprehend English language (50%) • Ability to lift tools and supplies up to 50 lbs (40%) • Ability to hear clearly (100%) • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and reach (100%) • Dexterity to utilize and manipulate tools and materials (100%) • Clear vision, or wear glasses/contacts if vision is obscured (100%)
