What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking dynamic, motivated individuals for its Field Operations Engineering Intern position (Summer 2026). Interns will work with staff at all levels in a fast‑changing environment, demonstrating flexibility, inventiveness, proactivity, efficiency, professionalism, and confidentiality. The internship offers hands‑on learning across various construction functions, including safety, change orders, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, scheduling, pre‑construction meetings, technology use, bid package preparation, material procurement, and interaction with architects and owners. Candidates must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in construction management, civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, safety management or a related field, be willing to relocate, have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, and be comfortable working in outdoor or trailer‑office environments. Preferred candidates have previous related internship experience, can work full‑time (40 hrs/week), maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, are currently freshman‑through‑junior undergraduates, are detail‑oriented and organized, possess the right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, understand basic construction law, and demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, problem‑solving, and customer service skills. • Structured Cabling and Electric Vehicle and Microgrid Group • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in construction, engineering, safety management or related field • Willing to relocate and mobile • Have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license • Comfortable working in dirt, heat, noise, dust, and trailer office environments • Previous related internship experience • Ability to work full‑time (40 hrs/week) • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale • Currently a freshman, sophomore, or junior undergraduate • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills • Positive, professional attitude and solid customer service skills

Benefits
The program runs a minimum of 12 weeks during the summer (May – August 2026) and placement is based on organizational needs. Mortenson offers year‑round internships, but this specific opportunity is seasonal. The hourly wage starts at $18 and increases for sophomores and higher‑year students.
