About the Role

Riggers are responsible for safely lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials. They inspect all rigging, plan lifts based on load weight and equipment capacity, attach loads using appropriate hardware, and signal operators during lifts. This role has no direct reports but works closely with helpers and laborers, exercising positional authority over them when needed. The rigger will collaborate with the crew to ensure safe and efficient lift operations. • Act as safety observer on equipment lifts • Inspect all rigging equipment before use • Plan or assist in planning lifts, considering load weight and equipment capacity • Attach loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and related hardware • Tie rope around load for guiding during lifting and positioning • Guide and position load during lift, including climbing structures as needed • Assist in connecting or stabilizing load prior to detaching from equipment • Detach loads and remove rigging equipment after lift • Place and remove outrigger pads from cranes and heavy equipment • Maintain knowledge of rigging equipment capacities and proper tool use

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least four years of experience as a Journeyman Rigger, possess NCCO/NCCER rigging certifications, and be able to work at heights above 300 ft. They must meet physical demands such as standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lb, and have reliable transportation and the required tools. • Signal equipment operator with proper hand signals for direction and placement • Hold NCCO/NCCER Rigging assessment (Level I/II) or obtain within 30 days of hire • Understand lift planning fundamentals, including equipment selection and load calculations • Demonstrate problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills to identify safety risks • Communicate effectively with co‑workers and operators using hand signals and verbal cues • Meet physical requirements: stand, walk, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders and platforms • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, boots) • Possess reliable transportation and all required tools • Preferred: current or former Zachry employee, experience with Zachry Industrial, or background as an industrial ironworker • Required tools include: tool box with lock, 12" adjustable wrench, 1 1/8" spud wrench, torpedo magnetic level, tool belt, 24" hand level, channel locks, bull pins (2), small wedges (2), leather gloves, 25'+ tape measure, 1 1/4" spud wrench, 50' tape measure, drift pin, #9 kleins, 4‑6 lb hammer, line‑up bars (2), large wedges (2), rain coat, rain boots
