About the Role
Construction services at HDR go beyond project delivery; they safeguard quality, safety, and trust at every step. As part of the Field Services team, you will work on infrastructure such as highways, bridges, water treatment plants, transit systems, and power facilities, ensuring designs are built to the highest standards with precision, integrity, and excellence. • Record daily construction progress with diary entries, photos, and videos. • Track completed work for bid items and material quantities. • Perform daily inspections per client requirements and standards. • Ensure construction conforms to contract documents, specifications, and schedule. • Monitor contractor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. • Supervise quality‑assurance inspections and acceptance of works. • Report progress, delays, concerns, and non‑conformances to the Project Manager with recommendations. • Coordinate with project management and design teams. • Liaise with client representatives as needed.

Their contributions are critical to delivering resilient infrastructure that serves communities for generations. • Post‑secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering or related large‑infrastructure experience. • Minimum 5 years of construction field engineering experience. • Eligibility for Certified Engineering Technologist registration. • Experience inspecting heavy civil infrastructure (highways, bridges, buildings, railroads). • Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and travel for on‑site remote work. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Ability to organize, prioritize, schedule, analyze, and solve problems. • Experience with GPS or Total Station surveying (asset). • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable vehicle. • High school diploma or equivalent (8 years relevant experience may substitute). • Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Proven problem‑solving and documentation abilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
