About the Role

The position involves supporting construction projects by observing and documenting field activities. Interns will sample, test, and inspect various materials such as soils, concrete, and steel, then perform calculations and draft test results. Daily duties also include using field screening equipment, reading plans, and coordinating with contractors and project managers. • Observe and document construction field activities. • Sample, test, and inspect soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel. • Perform calculations, data reduction, and draft test results. • Operate field screening equipment and record readings. • Read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. • Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers. • Serve as the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Provide reliable transportation for job sites (mileage reimbursed).

What You Bring

Applicants should be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline and demonstrate an interest in how building materials are used on site. The role requires the ability to lift 40‑70 lb repeatedly, with occasional lifts of up to 85 lb, and reliable transportation to job sites (mileage reimbursed). Relocation assistance is not available. • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering, construction management, or related field. • Ability to lift 40‑70 lb repeatedly and occasionally 85 lb to waist height.
