About the Role

The Safety Trainee reports to the Safety Manager of a multi‑location scrap‑metal recycling operation and assists the safety department in developing, implementing, and managing best‑in‑class safety policies, procedures, training, and awareness programs. The role involves auditing facilities, investigating incidents, delivering training, and serving as the primary contact for OSHA and other regulators. • Audit plants/facilities for safety compliance and correct deficiencies • Investigate accidents and incidents with plant core teams • Prepare and present monthly/annual training and safety meeting topics • Develop, revise, and implement site‑specific safety policies and procedures • Perform air sampling and noise level testing as needed • Approve safety supplies and personal protective equipment • Enforce safety rules and promote positive safety attitudes during yard visits • Maintain accurate documentation, accident logs, and investigation reports • Recommend safety policy changes to corporate staff • Serve as first contact for OSHA and other safety regulators • Build strong relationships with plant managers and supervisors

What You Bring
