Associate Engineer - PCB Design
Design and develop PCB artwork, lead small projects, ensure DFM/DFT/DF A compliance
Job Highlights
About the Role
The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop artwork for printed circuit boards (PCBs) that satisfy customer‑specific technical, cost, and market requirements. The engineer often acts as the technical or project leader for small initiatives, applying core engineering tools and creative thinking to tasks such as stack‑up design, bill‑of‑materials creation, and component placement for optimal routing. Using ECAD software, they produce detailed layouts, schematics, and drawings, and manage the planning, execution, and closure of assigned activities. Collaboration with manufacturing, product teams, PCB fab vendors, and suppliers is essential for resolving design‑for‑manufacturing, testing, and assembly issues. The role requires organizing and leading smaller projects, ensuring that all PCB design and review processes are adhered to, and prioritizing work with speed and focus. Continuous improvement is emphasized, with the engineer identifying opportunities to shorten design cycles, reduce DPMO, and enhance overall process quality while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and managing expectations against IPC standards. • Design and develop PCB artwork to meet customer technical, cost, and market specifications. • Lead small projects as technical/project leader, applying engineering principles to stack‑up, BOM, and component placement. • Create detailed PCB layouts, schematics, and drawings using ECAD tools (Altium, Allegro, CADSTAR, PADs). • Plan, execute, and close assigned design activities on schedule. • Collaborate with manufacturing, product teams, fab vendors, and suppliers to resolve DFM, DFT, and DFA issues. • Ensure compliance with PCB design and review processes and IPC quality standards. • Prioritize tasks, act swiftly, and hold self and others accountable for deliverable dates. • Identify and implement continuous‑improvement opportunities to reduce design cycle time and DPMO. • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, managing expectations and quality levels.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical, or communications engineering from a reputable institute and have 0‑1 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Altium is mandatory, and familiarity with Allegro, CADSTAR, PADs, or similar capture tools is required, along with solid knowledge of surface‑mount and through‑hole components, footprint creation, and IPC standards (IPC‑2221A, IPC‑SM‑782, IPC‑7351, UL, MIL). Desired competencies include awareness of CIS/CIP databases, thermal management, and enclosure design, while special experience in PCB manufacturing, Gerber validation with CAM350, EMI/EMC guidelines, high‑speed signal and power integrity analysis, and automotive high‑power layouts is advantageous. • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Communications Engineering from a reputable institute. • 0–1 years of relevant PCB design experience. • Proficiency with Altium (mandatory) and experience with Allegro, CADSTAR, or PADs. • Strong knowledge of surface‑mount and through‑hole components and footprint creation. • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC‑2221A, IPC‑SM‑782, IPC‑7351) and PCB library management. • Awareness of CIS/CIP databases, thermal management, and enclosure design. • Experience with PCB manufacturing processes, DFM, assembly, testing, and Gerber validation using CAM350. • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design guidelines and basic hardware testing. • Experience in high‑speed board design, signal and power integrity analysis (Ansys or equivalent). • Automotive domain expertise for high‑power layout designs.
