About the Role

The Lead Commissioner role, based in Easter Creek, NSW and reporting to the National Commissioning Manager, provides technical support, advice and mentoring on testing and commissioning throughout feasibility and estimating phases, creating testing sequences and estimating safe, efficient commissioning approaches. The role also involves preparing documentation to improve Downer’s market winning rate, directing pre‑commissioning and commissioning of primary and secondary electrical equipment on‑ and off‑site, developing inspection, test and commissioning plans, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, and supporting project teams during delivery. • Create testing and commissioning sequences and estimate safe, efficient approaches during feasibility and estimating phases. • Produce feasibility and tender documentation to demonstrate technical expertise and increase win rates. • Direct pre‑commissioning and commissioning of primary and secondary electrical apparatus on‑ and off‑site, ensuring contractual compliance. • Develop inspection, test and commissioning plans and ensure all procedures are recorded and followed. • Maintain a workforce that adheres to occupational health, safety, environmental and quality guidelines. • Provide proactive support and guidance to project managers, construction managers, site supervisors and testers during project delivery. • Complete required project documentation and administration. • Travel to and work on remote project sites across multiple Australian states.

What You Bring

Travel to remote sites across ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, VIC and other locations throughout Australia is required. Candidates should hold an electrical engineering degree (a Diploma of Power Systems is desirable), be familiar with Transgrid standards and substation work, have experience performing Recipient In Charge duties for EAP and SFT, extensive field testing and protection testing in substation and transmission environments, and possess a strong understanding of relevant AS/NZ/ISO standards, commercial/subcontracting frameworks and secondary electrical design. High‑level communication skills and the ability to manage customer relationships are essential, as is availability for remote projects nationwide. • Hold an electrical engineering degree (diploma of power systems desirable) and be familiar with Transgrid standards and substation work. • Experience performing Recipient In Charge duties for EAP and SFT, and extensive protection testing in substation/transmission environments. • Strong knowledge of AS/NZ/ISO standards, commercial/subcontracting and procurement frameworks, and secondary electrical design. • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and public speaking skills; ability to manage customer relationships. • Availability to work on various remote projects throughout Australia.
