About the Role
The Area Director Finance leads accounting and financial functions across the designated Area, ensuring reliable financial reporting, accurate transaction processing, and analytical support for strategic initiatives while maintaining statutory compliance. This role partners with the Area President to identify growth opportunities and drive margin expansion. Key responsibilities include reviewing monthly close and forecast results, collaborating with operations partners to implement corrective actions, and focusing on margin‑expanding activities. The director provides decision‑support recommendations to the Area President on all financial reporting and business analysis matters. The role directs, manages, and develops Area and Business Unit Finance Managers through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management. It also oversees market strategy for municipal, acquisition, and landfill development models, assembles teams for mergers and acquisitions, and supports due‑diligence and integration efforts. Collaboration with the Revenue Management Analyst ensures pricing initiatives meet expectations. The director champions cross‑functional alignment, drives change management communication, and enforces internal controls and company policies.

What You Bring
Qualifications include a CPA license and an MBA, strong analytical and organizational skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and deep knowledge of GAAP, SOX 404, and other financial statutes. The candidate must influence senior leadership, coach seasoned managers, establish effective processes, and manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment. Minimum requirements are at least five years of professional accounting or finance experience and a minimum of two years in a managerial, supervisory, or lead capacity.
