Senior Principal, Practice Leader
Lead and grow geotechnical services in Southern California for ECS.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The leader will guide Geotechnical Project Managers and staff, reviewing technical reports and driving quality‑assurance initiatives across the region. They will spearhead client development efforts to secure and expand relationships with private, commercial, and public sector clients, while actively pursuing new project opportunities. In addition, they will mentor associate principals, contribute to internal review boards, and represent ECS at key industry conferences such as IFCEE, PDCA, DFI, ASCE, and ADSC. Monitoring regulatory changes and communicating them internally will also be a core responsibility. • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for geotechnical projects across Southern California. • Lead client development initiatives to secure and expand private, commercial, and public sector contracts. • Mentor associate principals and staff, participating in promotion and professional development reviews. • Represent ECS at industry conferences such as IFCEE, PDCA, DFI, ASCE, and ADSC. • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate updates to align internal practices. • Act as a market ambassador, promoting ECS services and culture to clients and partners. • Build and lead the Southern California geotechnical service line from inception.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, geological engineering, or geology, and possess 20+ years of geotechnical or construction materials testing experience. An active California P.E. or P.G. license (or the ability to obtain one) and a valid driver’s license are required, along with a track record of branch or regional leadership and proven client development success. Prior recognition as a senior reviewer and experience mentoring staff are also essential. • Maintain an active California P.E. or P.G. license and a valid driver’s license.
