About the Role
The Senior Tax Analyst will support U.S. indirect tax compliance, reporting, and audit activities, while coordinating tax‑related administration across Finance, Legal, and HR. This hybrid role requires regular in‑office presence in San Diego, CA, with specific location expectations discussed during the interview process. The analyst will uphold high standards of tax governance, organization, and process efficiency. • Prepare, review, and file U.S. sales, use, excise, and other indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions. • Ensure timely and accurate remittance of tax payments. • Reconcile indirect tax accounts and support monthly/quarterly close processes. • Maintain compliance with state and local tax registration, licensing, and filing requirements. • Perform tax research and analyze taxability of products, services, and transactions under U.S. state, local, and indirect tax laws. • Provide guidance to Accounting, AP/AR, Procurement, and Sales teams on tax matters. • Support implementation and maintenance of tax determination systems (e.g., Vertex, Avalara). • Assist with tax implications of new business initiatives, system changes, and contracts. • Manage and support state and local tax audits, including data gathering, responses, and negotiations. • Identify, quantify, and mitigate indirect tax risks and exposures. • Monitor changes in U.S. indirect tax legislation and assess impact on the company. • Develop and maintain indirect tax procedures, controls, and documentation. • Identify opportunities to improve compliance efficiency through automation and process enhancements. • Support SOX/internal control requirements related to indirect taxes. • Support K‑1 and unit holder filings and correspondence. • Assist with tax distribution process for unit holders. • Manage information requests from external advisors related to the K‑1 process. • Coordinate information between PE owner and third‑party advisors. • Assist with management of equity process with Finance, HR, and Legal teams. • Prepare tax workpapers using Excel and gather data for tax filings. • Support property tax and tax registration processes. • Prepare, review, and maintain resale and sales tax exemption certificates. • Support workflow from tax preparation through payment processes. • Gather fixed‑asset information for property tax and other tax returns. • Process tax return filings as needed. • Build and maintain internal tax and legal files with historical entity formation documentation. • Maintain tax department calendar with due dates. • Maintain Tax Legal Entity Structure Chart and track real‑time changes. • Assist team in managing tax compliance deadlines and contract reviews. • Support process improvement initiatives and SOX documentation procedures. • Assist Head of Tax with planning, restructuring, and entity closures. • Develop efficiency tools such as checklists, process documents, and training materials. • Monitor and respond to tax inquiries from the business. • Track department budget, accrued advisory fees, and third‑party invoices.

What You Bring
• Minimum 5‑7 years tax, accounting, or legal experience in public accounting or public company. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field; CPA preferred. • Advanced proficiency in Excel. • Strong organizational, detail‑oriented, and record‑keeping skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. • Familiarity with tax software and ERP systems. • Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently. • Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. • Discretion in handling confidential information.
