About the Role

Mortenson is hiring a Project Manager to oversee project quality, timeliness, and safety while mentoring the team. The role also focuses on building strong customer relationships through excellent service. The Project Manager will be accountable for overall project financial health, budgeting, billing, contract management, and selection of trade partners and suppliers. They will lead assistant project managers and engineers, manage on‑site team performance, and act as the primary liaison with owners and on‑site representatives. • Manage project financial health, including subcontracts and suppliers. • Develop and maintain project financial projections and allocate estimates in the financial system. • Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment. • Create monthly owner billings and manage contract buyouts. • Oversee budget selection of trade partners and suppliers. • Lead Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assign job responsibilities, and support career development. • Approve timecards for on‑site team members and deliver performance feedback. • Serve as primary contact with owners and on‑site representatives, review agreements, and resolve site concerns. • Execute and manage change orders, securing customer or architect approval. • Maintain schedule and budget through project completion while ensuring quality, risk, safety, compliance, and relationship building.

What You Bring

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field or possess equivalent experience, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to travel up to 100%. The position requires proven ability to handle complex projects, strong attention to detail, basic knowledge of construction law, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and project‑management software. Level 1 candidates need at least six years of construction management experience, with a salary range of $113,500‑$170,300. Level 2 candidates require seven years of experience on large projects ($20 M+), with a range of $132,100‑$198,200, plus location‑based adjustments for Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management (or equivalent experience). • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%. • Minimum six years of construction management experience for Level 1 or seven years for Level 2, with Level 2 requiring large projects ($20 M+). • Detail‑oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, project software, and relevant web applications. • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies. • Strong active‑listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback. • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.
