About the Role
The position provides technical design and CADD support to engineers and project managers across planning, transportation, infrastructure, and technical services. Responsibilities include creating accurate CADD designs for moderate to large‑scale projects and delivering detailed reports, specifications, plans, profiles, models, and material lists that meet or exceed industry standards. Key duties involve collecting and analyzing field data, surveys, and technical drawings, using 3D CADD software to produce precise design documents, and ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations. The designer verifies calculations, resolves design discrepancies, collaborates with cross‑functional teams, and may serve as the sole drafting resource or oversee other drafting activities. Additional tasks include preparing multiple design versions, monitoring quality control, mentoring junior staff, and staying current with drafting best practices. • Draft and design electrical utility and renewable energy site civil plans using 3D CADD software. • Generate comprehensive design deliverables such as plans, profiles, specifications, and material lists. • Collect and analyze field data, surveys, and technical drawings to support project design. • Ensure designs comply with city, state, and federal regulations and industry standards. • Verify calculations, resolve design discrepancies, and provide technical guidance to engineers. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and communicate with clients and contractors. • Mentor and train entry‑level drafting staff while staying current on best practices. • Maintain ethical standards and adhere to WSP’s code of conduct.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a high‑school diploma and have at least nine years of post‑education drafting or design experience, with strong knowledge of design principles, relevant codes, and technical computation. Required skills include analytical problem‑solving, effective communication with technical and non‑technical audiences, self‑leadership, attention to detail, and proficiency with technical writing, CAD tools, and office software. The role also demands a solid safety record, flexibility for extended work hours, and occasional travel. A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and professional licensure or certification are preferred. These qualifications enhance the candidate’s ability to meet the complex demands of the position. • Minimum 9 years of relevant drafting/design experience; high school diploma required. • Proficient in technical writing, CAD tools, and analytical problem‑solving. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and self‑leadership skills. • Ability to work flexible schedules and occasional travel. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field and professional licensure.
