About the Role
This engineer initiates and completes the concept design phase for special‑form tools and complex modified standard cutting tools, produces new drawings, and designates production routings across various industries. The role works closely with the sales team and customers to ensure tooling is designed and released to the shop on time and with accuracy. Key duties include designing and quoting standard, modified, and custom tools; collecting data from customers and sales representatives to evaluate production feasibility; communicating quotations, applications, and design details to customers; assisting inside sales with order processing during high‑load periods; requesting material quotes; making engineering changes to existing designs; and performing other assigned tasks. • Design and quote standard, modified, and custom cutting tools. • Gather customer and sales data to assess production feasibility and provide accurate quotations. • Create new drawings and assign production routings for special‑form and complex tools. • Collaborate with sales team and customers to ensure timely, accurate tool release. • Assist inside sales with order processing during peak periods. • Request material quotes and implement engineering changes to existing designs.

What You Bring
Education requirements include a college degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to read blueprints being mandatory. Machining experience, vocational school or apprenticeship, manufacturing background, SolidWorks/AutoCAD proficiency, and computer programming experience are preferred. Required skills and abilities encompass knowledge of cutting‑tool series applications, MS Office competence, strong spatial awareness, the ability to conceptualize complex geometry, excellent oral and written communication, strong organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail. • Required: college degree (preferably Mechanical Engineering) and ability to read blueprints. • Preferred: machining experience, vocational/apprenticeship, manufacturing background, SolidWorks/AutoCAD, and programming skills. • Demonstrate strong spatial awareness, MS Office proficiency, and excellent communication and organizational skills. • Physical requirement: seated desk work and occasional lifting of objects up to 20 lb.
