About the Role

You will define data management policies and procedures, covering governance, quality and retention, to ensure data is collected, stored, maintained and used in line with the company’s strategy. You will also design, build and maintain data pipelines and architecture that enable data‑driven decisions throughout the organisation. Collaboration is central to the role; you will work closely with data engineers, data scientists and product teams to integrate, transform and make data accessible for analytical and operational purposes. You are expected to have depth and/or breadth of technical data‑management knowledge and to influence technical decisions. Key responsibilities include leading data integration and ETL projects, overseeing the conversion of paper‑based information to electronic systems, resolving complex data issues, and ensuring policies, standards and best practices are adopted. You will also provide technical direction to peers and junior staff, drive best‑practice sharing, research data sources, troubleshoot problems and safeguard data security and privacy. • Lead and manage data integration, ETL and data conversion initiatives. • Define and enforce data governance, quality and retention policies. • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and architecture. • Collaborate with data engineers, scientists and product teams to deliver accessible data. • Oversee migration of paper‑based information to electronic data systems. • Provide technical direction and mentorship to peers and junior professionals. • Ensure data security, privacy and compliance with IP and export‑control regulations. • Conduct data source research, resolve data quality issues and track queries. • Drive adoption of best practices and continuous improvement of data capabilities.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Mathematics, Computing, Engineering or equivalent experience, and has proven experience delivering end‑to‑end data pipelines. You should be comfortable with Spark, PowerBI, Tableau, scripting/automation languages, ETL tools, and working in agile, self‑organising teams. Knowledge of intellectual property, export‑control requirements and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., UK CEng) are also required.
