About the Role

The engineer is responsible for maintaining continuous operation of all building systems, including fire and life safety, HVAC, chillers, UPS, generators, and power distribution equipment. Duties involve monitoring performance, performing preventive maintenance, recording data, and adjusting equipment to ensure optimal functionality while adhering to safety and compliance standards. • Maintain 100% uptime of fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, UPS, generators, and related building systems. • Perform preventive maintenance, monitor equipment, record readings, and make adjustments as needed. • Diagnose system issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly. • Manage work orders, CMMS entries, vendor coordination, and respond to customer tickets. • Follow hazardous material handling policies and keep the workplace clean and safe. • Respond to emergencies, adhere to escalation procedures, and work varied schedules including holidays.

What You Bring

This on‑site role is based in Abilene, Texas, and candidates must establish residency near the location to meet in‑person requirements. The position is titled Data Center Building Engineer. The job requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, and lifting at least 50 lb, as well as the ability to work at heights using ladders up to 30 ft. Flexible scheduling is essential, with availability needed for holidays and emergency response situations. Ideal candidates have more than two years of experience in data‑center or critical‑facility environments and possess knowledge of UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgear. Strong communication skills, proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS tools (preferably Corrigo), and certifications such as EPA 608 and NFPA70E are preferred. • Possess 2+ years of experience in data center or critical facility operations. • Knowledge of UPS systems, emergency generators, switchgear, and building automation systems. • Proficient with MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS (preferably Corrigo); EPA 608 and NFPA70E certifications preferred. • Ability to lift ≥50 lb, climb ladders up to 30 ft, and work at heights safely.
