About the Role

The role includes organizing estimate preparation, directing meetings, creating reliable cost proposals, collaborating on trade‑partner strategies, gathering BIM and other documents for quantity surveys, using cost histories and productivity data, and ensuring estimates meet margin objectives approved by sponsors and estimating leaders. • Organize and schedule estimate preparation, leading necessary meetings • Prepare comprehensive, reliable estimates for mid‑size to multiple small projects • Collaborate with project team to define trade‑partner strategy and issue bid invitations • Obtain BIM and other documents to complete quantity surveys and define scope • Leverage cost history to inform pricing, productivities, and margin planning • Work with Project Sponsor and Estimating Leaders to meet margin goals and secure approval • Participate in bid day presentations to owners • Build and maintain relationships with operations, design, trade partners, and owners • Stay current on industry standards through trade journals, conferences, and project experience • Perform quantity surveys for MEPT systems and create basic device layouts • Conduct value analysis and use Cortex to evaluate and validate estimates • Apply productivity standards (MCA/SMACNA/NECA) to labor estimating • Identify and coordinate non‑MEPT scopes required for system installation • Source trade partners and vendors for pricing and delivery schedules; maintain a partner list

What You Bring

Mortenson is hiring an MEP‑Electrical Estimator II to lead estimating efforts for mid‑size projects, multiple small projects, or to support larger projects under a lead estimator. Candidates must hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in estimating, engineering, construction management or a related discipline, possess at least three years of construction experience, be capable of performing MEPT quantity surveys, conduct value analysis, use Cortex software, apply industry productivity standards, and coordinate additional scopes and vendor pricing. The position does not offer visa sponsorship; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
