About the Role

The technician will join the Utilities/Energy team that delivers feasibility studies, detailed design, surveying, permitting, land acquisition, asset management, construction management and more for renewable energy, oil & gas, transmission, substations, and related projects, with a focus on safe and sustainable solutions. • Collaborate with a team to tackle diverse projects. • Read and interpret utility records, as‑built and survey drawings, and highway design plans. • Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies. • Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities. • Implement appropriate maintenance of traffic procedures. • Submit “One‑Call” tickets for utility notifications. • Coordinate survey work related to SUE activities. • Supervise field crew activities. • Train junior crew members. • Represent Colliers in the field and coordinate with utility companies. • Occasionally travel out of town and work overtime as needed. • Prioritize personal and team safety at all times. • Pass pre‑employment drug screening and participate in ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.

What You Bring

• Provide at least 5 years of utility designating/locating experience. • Quickly grasp new technologies and software. • Demonstrate basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new programs. • Exhibit strong reading comprehension and communication abilities. • Comfortably work outdoors in varied weather conditions. • Walk several miles daily as required by field duties. • Lift equipment weighing up to 80 lb. • Maintain good driving skills and a clean driving record. • Read, write, and understand English for job-related communications.
