About the Role

The Assistant Engineer manages, evaluates, and assesses information required to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the required quality according to contract documents for assigned areas, and has supervisory responsibility for Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns. • Serve as liaison with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, Turner staff, and owner representatives to resolve plan and specification issues. • Maintain general knowledge of contract and subcontract documents and the job estimate, overseeing decisions related to contract drawings and ensuring alignment with the estimate. • Manage the project budget. • Oversee submittals and shop drawings, assess conformance to contract specifications, and resolve interpretation conflicts. • Negotiate change orders, analyze changes, obtain and verify subcontractor estimates, secure architect and owner approvals, and resolve related conflicts. • Direct the close‑out process, preparing final records such as RFIs, warranties, as‑builts, operation and maintenance manuals, attic stock, and spare parts to ensure contract compliance. • Supervise Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns, including providing input for performance appraisals. • Prepare scope of work documents for trades. • Develop reports covering general conditions items, labor, safety, change order logs, and quality control. • Schedule and manage subcontractor trade coordination, pre‑construction, and submittal review meetings.

What You Bring

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree plus at least two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training, strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and experience using BIM and LEAN technologies. The candidate must be able to read, interpret, and apply contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills. Physical demands may include occasional climbing of stairs and ladders, use of construction hoists, lifting or moving up to 50 lb, and the vision abilities needed to read close‑up details and assess depth and peripheral vision. The work environment is an on‑site construction setting with exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, fumes, weather conditions, and potential electrical hazards, and noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud.

It is classified as an experienced, salaried exempt position with a salary range estimated at $72,000 to $82,000 annualized.
