About the Role

The Design Manager will plan, manage and deliver all aspects of project and tender design, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency and compliance. Working closely with internal engineering teams, external consultants and project stakeholders, the role delivers coordinated, constructible and commercially viable engineering solutions. • Lead and manage design activities per UGL’s Design Management Standard • Develop concept designs for tenders and detailed designs for projects • Oversee design coordination across internal teams and external consultants • Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, construction and operational requirements • Support estimating, procurement, construction and commissioning teams • Manage design schedules, budgets, risks, reviews, verifications and certifications • Liaise with clients, authorities, suppliers and subcontractors • Conduct constructability and operability reviews and lead risk workshops • Prepare design management plans, filing systems and close‑out reports • Ensure compliance with OHS&E, contract requirements and ISO 9001 processes

What You Bring

• Hold a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with eligibility for Engineers Australia Member / CPEng • Possess significant design and construction experience on gas‑fired power station projects • Background with major OEMs is highly desirable • Strong capability in developing concept and detailed designs for energy projects • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project and Autodesk CAD software • Minimum five years’ experience in a design leadership role • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills • Strong health and safety culture
