About the Role

HDR’s Field Services team delivers construction services that go beyond simple project delivery, ensuring quality, safety, and trust for infrastructure such as highways, bridges, water‑treatment plants, transit systems, and power facilities. Senior Construction Inspectors lead on‑site efforts, applying deep technical knowledge and hands‑on experience to guarantee that designs are built to the highest standards and leave a lasting legacy for communities. • Conduct and document observations of civil construction projects such as roads, bridges, and water/wastewater facilities. • Monitor, record, and inspect construction progress. • Perform measurements and calculations to determine work quantity and material needs. • Check layout and dimensions using tape measures, rules, and other instruments. • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies. • Compose daily logs of activities, personnel, equipment, weather, and other pertinent details. • Write reports documenting field inspections and tests performed. • Enter and record project information into computer programs. • Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed. • Collaborate with other field representatives or project managers. • Serve as the most senior inspector on projects when required.

What You Bring

The role requires at least five years of construction inspection experience, strong written communication, proficiency with MS Office, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates must hold a high school diploma (or equivalent experience), possess an OSHA 10‑hour certification, and be willing to adhere to HDR’s drug‑and‑alcohol policy; sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is not available. • Experience on state or municipal transportation construction projects. • Experience preparing construction project documentation and maintaining records. • Ability to exercise deductive reasoning and independently resolve problems. • Experience using survey equipment to verify construction layout. • Department of Transportation or other technical certifications (e.g., ACI, ATSSA). • OSHA 10‑hour certification. • High school diploma or equivalent (8 years relevant experience may substitute). • Minimum of 5 years construction inspection experience. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Strong written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Willingness to pass required drug and alcohol screenings. • No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is available.
