About the Role
The role involves planning, designing, and installing electrical infrastructure to support the operation and expansion of the container port. You will develop and execute strategies for maintaining the port’s electrical systems, supervise consultants, contractors, and engineers, and act as the Senior Authorised Person providing out‑of‑hours emergency and maintenance support. You will ensure all electrical work is carried out by authorised, competent personnel, delivering training and competency assessments. Responsibilities include maintaining and updating the Electrical Safe Systems of Works, keeping documentation in order, and managing contracts to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to required quality standards. • Ensure uninterrupted electrical power supply to Southampton Port. • Plan, design, and implement electrical infrastructure to meet current and future demand. • Manage and supervise consultants, contractors, and engineers for construction and maintenance. • Act as Senior Authorised Person, providing out‑of‑hours emergency support. • Maintain contracts for third‑party support and network recovery. • Oversee SCADA and BMS systems for monitoring electricity consumption. • Implement metering strategy to record network losses and tenant consumption. • Ensure 100 % availability and reliability of port electrical supply. • Conduct training and competency assessments for authorised personnel. • Maintain and update Electrical Safe Systems of Works and related documentation. • Manage electrical infrastructure contracts within time, budget, and quality targets.

What You Bring
Key qualifications include an HND or degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience), demonstrable experience with LV and HV network switching (>11kV), HV cable jointing and terminating, and in‑depth knowledge of HV network maintenance and BS 7671:2018 regulations. Strong problem‑solving, innovation, and 24/7 support experience are also required. • Hold HND or degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). • Demonstrated experience with LV/HV network switching and HV cable jointing/terminating. • In‑depth knowledge of HV network maintenance and BS 7671:2018 regulations. • Proven problem‑solving, innovation, and 24/7 support experience.
