About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer (Special Process Accreditation) based in Indianapolis, IN ensures that all special processes meet NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) requirements and remain audit‑ready. This role drives compliance, standardization, and continuous improvement while partnering with operations, quality, special‑process owners, and global engineering authorities. Responsibilities include leading audit preparation, coordinating external interactions, managing corrective actions, maintaining technical documentation, and ensuring robust process governance, which is critical to preserving Rolls‑Royce’s accreditation status and supporting long‑term aerospace manufacturing capabilities. Key duties involve leading and supporting NADCAP audit preparation, execution, and post‑audit follow‑up across all applicable special processes. The engineer coordinates audits and corrective actions with NADCAP auditors and other accreditation bodies, ensures all documentation meets specifications and standards, conducts internal assessments and gap analyses, and collaborates with process owners to maintain control, configuration management, and technical compliance. Continuous‑improvement initiatives are driven to strengthen process capability, consistency, and audit performance, while training and governance activities sustain compliance across sites. • Lead NADCAP audit preparation, execution, and follow‑up for all special processes. • Coordinate with auditors and external accreditation bodies; manage corrective actions. • Ensure special‑process documentation, procedures, and records meet accreditation standards. • Conduct internal gap analyses and risk assessments to maintain compliance. • Partner with process owners to uphold control, configuration management, and technical standards. • Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance process capability and audit performance. • Provide training and governance support to sustain compliance across sites.

Candidates must embody Rolls‑Royce’s principles of safety first, doing the right thing, simplicity, and making a difference. Basic qualifications include an Associate of Science in Engineering or Technology with 4+ years experience, a Bachelor of Science with 2+ years, a Master’s degree, a PhD, or 6+ years of demonstrated audit support experience in aerospace quality systems such as AS9100. U.S. citizenship is required. Preferred qualifications include experience with NADCAP requirements, audits, and special‑process control, as well as a background in aerospace processes like chemical processing, heat treat, non‑destructive testing, coatings, or welding. Candidates should have strong knowledge of AS9100, the ability to interpret technical specifications, and excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, enabling them to influence cross‑functional teams and ensure documentation accuracy. • Minimum: U.S. citizen; associate degree +4 yrs or bachelor +2 yrs (or higher) in Engineering/Technology, or 6 + years audit experience. • Preferred: NADCAP audit experience; background in chemical processing, heat treat, NDT, coatings, welding; strong AS9100 knowledge.
