About the Role
The Environmental Manager leads the preparation of the landfill budget, oversees all engineering department expenditures, and manages personnel during site development. This role also handles permitting and ensures continuous compliance with all applicable regulations throughout landfill operations. Key duties include managing construction projects for landfill cells and sites—covering capacity calculations, scheduling, and resource coordination—while maintaining financial responsibility for construction, closure, engineering, operations, and cost tracking. The manager coordinates permit applications and designs, interfaces with regulators, prepares responses to inspections, assists with fill sequencing plans, and participates in acquisition reviews, including Phase I assessments and pro‑forma modeling. Ongoing public‑relations and due‑diligence activities involve communication with corporate offices, regulatory agencies, consultants, and investors, and the manager prepares monthly soil tracking and status reports. Supervision of Environmental Technicians and Specialists is a core responsibility, encompassing hiring, training, performance management, and work review. The manager also attends regulatory and industry meetings, coordinates air and water monitoring, and ensures timely environmental data review and reporting.

What You Bring
Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of air, water, solid‑waste, and recycling regulations, strong written and oral communication skills, and proven project‑management and analytical abilities. A minimum of five years of landfill engineering or environmental‑compliance experience is required, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and interpret technical and regulatory documents. The position offers a salary range of $90,800 to $124,850, with an annual incentive target of 15%.
