About the Role
The Saint Louis Construction Inspection Intern will support senior inspectors on civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines. The role involves observing construction progress, coordinating material testing, documenting findings, and assisting with measurements and calculations. Interns will also prepare daily logs and enter project data into computer systems. • Assist an inspector in conducting and documenting construction observations for civil infrastructure projects • Monitor, record, and inspect progress on construction projects • Coordinate field material sampling and testing, including concrete slump, air testing, cylinder casting, and soil compaction • Work under general supervision from the senior inspector who reviews work in progress • Perform measurements and calculations to determine work quantities and material needs • Check layout and dimensions using tape measures, rules, and other instruments • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies • Compose daily reports documenting activities, inspections, tests, personnel, equipment, and weather conditions • Enter and record project information into computer programs • Interpret construction schedules • Navigate outdoor construction sites across all seasons and terrain • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and navigate structures of varying heights • Lift and carry equipment required for inspections and testing • Perform basic mathematical calculations in geometry and algebra • Work overtime, including nights and weekends, as needed • Travel to remote work sites outside the Saint Louis metro area

What You Bring
The position requires successful completion of drug‑screening procedures and may involve random testing. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, navigate rough terrain, climb ladders or scaffolding, and lift equipment as needed. Flexibility to work overtime, including nights and weekends, and to travel to remote sites outside the St. Louis metro area is expected. • Work effectively as part of a team • Currently enrolled in a technical school or pursuing an associate’s program related to the field • Demonstrated experience in construction inspection • Hold OSHA 10‑hour certification • Exhibit strong people skills and positive interaction with project teams • Exercise deductive reasoning and independently resolve problems • Possess Department of Transportation technician testing certifications • Communicate proficiently in verbal and written correspondence • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program • Demonstrate attention to detail • Possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills • Maintain basic Microsoft Office proficiency
