About the Role

Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches, preparing reports, and instructing laborers and other construction trade helpers. The Carpenter builds and sets forms, uses level instruments, ties rebar, constructs scaffolding, performs finish carpentry, reads tapes and rulers, sets screeds, installs batter boards, and operates various hand and power tools. They also inspect areas, conduct repairs or maintenance, and assist other craft workers as needed. • Read and interpret blueprints/sketches and complete related reports. • Instruct laborers and construction trade helpers. • Build and set forms, tie rebar, construct scaffolding, perform finish carpentry, and operate hand/power tools. • Inspect work areas and perform repairs or maintenance. • Assist other craft workers as needed.

What You Bring

The Carpenter designs, constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and items made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using pneumatic and electric power tools. They fasten materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives and perform a final check to ensure accuracy. The role requires knowledge of advanced layout, Simon forms, anchor bolt placement, material takeoff from drawings, and safety requirements, as well as learning all related hazards and safe tool operation. Work is performed in plant operations or construction jobsite settings. Physical requirements involve the ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lb (occasionally up to 100 lb), perform repetitive hand/arm motions, and maintain hand‑eye coordination. The job demands climbing and balancing on steel or wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, as well as frequent bending, twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, and standing. Workers must navigate uneven, muddy, or soft surfaces, confined spaces, and endure adverse weather conditions. Mentally, the Carpenter must communicate effectively with management and supervision, comprehend and produce written instructions, and use math for calculations. The role requires concentration amid distractions, decision‑making skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remember and observe specifics.
