About the Role
The position blends project-management responsibilities with lead-engineer duties, requiring oversight of MEP design from concept through completion and continuous interaction with design teams and clients. Successful candidates will have proven design experience with comfort and MEP systems, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to craft responses to RFPs and RFQs. Leadership is a core component: the builder will mentor and coordinate designers, EITs, and other technical staff on mechanical and multi-discipline projects, manage tasks with minimal supervision, and ensure profitable project delivery while transitioning work to qualified staff. • Oversee MEP design from concept to completion, interfacing with design teams and clients. • Lead project management tasks and prepare responses to RFPs/RFQs. • Mentor and coordinate designers, EITs, and technical staff on mechanical and multi-discipline projects. • Manage project profitability, transition work to qualified staff, and deliver tasks with minimal supervision. • Drive growth of the MEP practice with autonomy and potential path to ownership.

What You Bring
Kimley-Horn is seeking a motivated Senior MEP Practice Builder to expand its MEP practice in Florida. The role offers significant autonomy to lead, direct, and grow a business within the firm. Qualifications include at least 15 years of relevant experience, a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, extensive design work with comfort, MEP, and plumbing systems, and experience producing engineering and energy studies such as Comcheck and Title 24. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, with Revit knowledge considered a plus, along with strong critical-thinking and teamwork abilities. • Possess 15+ years of MEP engineering experience and a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. • Demonstrate design expertise in comfort, MEP, plumbing systems, and energy studies (Comcheck, Title 24). • Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and ability to work independently or in teams. • Experience mentoring staff and managing tasks with minimal supervision. • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit proficiency is a plus.
